There was a warm breeze blowing as we walked up to the outdoor arena set up at the Dracula last night to watch Candy Dulfer perform and it soon got much hotter. She didn’t seem to pause for a breath! Within minutes of kicking off she had the audience gripped by her energy and dancing wildly along!
Her rendition of ‘Lilly was here’ could have gone on all night and we wouldn’t have minded! Between her saxophone, which seemed to be an extension of her, and Ulco Bed’s electric guitar we were all up there with the drone buzzing about!
According to the energetic Dutch woman, ‘Picking up the pieces’ is the ultimate song written for the saxophone and she certainly gave us a good demonstration of this… she strutted her stuff down with the audience and then kicked back into more high-energy material – it was a hot breeze blowing by the time we all piled off out into the velvety night!
