We certainly have not been short of snow this season! The White Turf lived up to its name thats for sure – there was around 7500 people on the frozen lake this weekend – despite the fact that the snow just continued falling. There was the occasional resounding crack of ice, but all eyes were focused on the exciting developments on the actual track. A British horse won the GP Longines with jockey Dennis Schiergen ridding a horse from the Paul Webber stables.
My favourite has to be the Skikjöring which was valiantly fought by Usbekia and Valeria Holinger, who have been the winners for the last two years. They put up a really great fight but finally came in fourth place.
Strade Kirk with the tenfold champion Jakob Broger at the reins gave everyone a thrill as they put in a last minute spurt that won them the race!
As ever – a heady experience with champagne flowing and bets flying all over the place!
